Most states going green and countries for that matter seem to forget where the money comes from to keep them alive - sure ain't wind and solar or their beloved batteries!!! And sooner or later they will bankrupt the taxpayers and then all the small business!
Ok, yes that is happening already! Then they will put the ones who speak out in jail and seize their assets just because they can!
Texas hasn't forgotten about that oil and gas , kinda looks like it, but- they just can't get ahead of the problem! I guess the profits from oil and gas are funding the Texas Energy Fund, which will be set to increase in 2025! Just mark my words on that!
Well all these hypocritical states with California in the lead don't care if they they outsource to the Amazon or anywhere else, as long as it is the cheapest - I'm surprised they are not bringing it in from Venezuela or Iran via ship transfer!
California never was green, never will be, and should just 'fess up to that little and move on!
But this country seems to be turning into a bunch of media cackling clowns and no reality on the facts of life other than you lie on your a$$ (literally and metaphorically) and get to run the world!!!
The real world doesn't run that way, but I guess - who am I to judge!
Yes I'm a bit of a sensitive receptor myself, but don't tell anyone, let alone report it, what about you!
Oh California - always California dreaming.... dreaming up crap like taking over the oil market - guess that will run all the oil businesses out of the state - but maybe just maybe that's what they want... unsure on that one, that or all the money - they sure need it!
Newsom is just a cringe..... and you are right Orwellian is the order of the day, it seems everywhere these days.
Does a leopard change it's spots? Carrots or stick from renewables.? They will be sweet for a while - then as any bully - here comes the big stick! Or the good neighbor agreements or the non-participating leases, all with a no-talkie clause and a few Benjamins.
I now hereby identify as a "sensitive receptor" and will be filing for disabilities and other entitlements. This actually means I am basically getting some of my taxes back - great scheme, right??😉
Thanks for stopping by Pablo, bravo on that comment, pretty much distills it!
I would only add that there is influence geopolitics involved in the sale and purchase of the oil that somehow helps the USA strategically (?).
However, the real tragedy is the damage wrought on the economy via loss of tax revenue, workers laid off, and debasement of the entire goods and services food chain that depended on California oil.
If the people of California could be given a tour of the oil fields in the Amazon, so they could see with their own eyes what their votes have rendered, then maybe they would change their votes. It's like the EV drivers - if they could see what a lithium or rare earth mining operation looks like in Indonesia and Malaysia, etc, they might change their thinking.
I disagree, the people of California do not care one whit about what happens elsewhere on the pollution scale, or the CO2 scale, they are far too focused on their own preening.
Yes, I look forward to the day when California finds out that no deliveries are coming to the state by any means as there is no way for the transport vehicles to refuel and leave. revolution will occur within a couple of days as there is no food, power or transport
The oil wells operating in and around the L.A./Long Beach area are generally well managed with a good safety record. Not so in the Amazon, where they are causing massive environmental destruction. Commie California again shows that they are NIMBYs when it comes to actual global emissions reductions.
TC- There are definitely certain insights in here that I'm learning and are fairly new to me. So I appreciate this refreshing find. Hope you're well this week? Cheers, -Thalia
“There are no solutions, only trade-offs.” This grim truism underscores the complexities of policy and economic decisions, where unintended consequences often lurk beneath a veneer of selectively presented data. Take, for instance, the narrative surrounding emissions and battery production. On the surface, it might seem that developed countries have made significant strides in reducing their carbon footprints—thanks to natural gas in the U.S., nuclear power in France, and hydro/nuclear energy in Sweden. Meanwhile, the developing world is often branded as the chief polluter.
Yet, when you factor in the consumption-based carbon emissions—essentially the CO2 costs of the goods we import—the reality shifts. Developed nations haven’t truly cut their carbon emissions; they’ve merely outsourced them. The environmental degradation, from mining to forest destruction to tailing pollution, is often a direct result of these nations' push for electric vehicles (EVs). Norway, lauded for its leadership in EV adoption, gets a free pass while the consequences of its policies, like deforestation in Indonesia and increased coal use, are largely ignored.
In the end, good intentions are no substitute for a comprehensive understanding of the broader impact.
When Amazon crude gets refined to gasoline, California has to have their own special blend that adds an additional 50 cents a gallon to the price. It actually decreases gas mileage. My cars alway ran better once we purged the California mix out of our tanks. This also why California cannot import fuel from other states.

JF, thank you for your comments, as always!
Question: are you a sensitive receptor or do you know of one? If so, please report and fill in the form so the police state can check !
Orwellian CA is here.
Best,
TC

Said much better than I
You are a great writer !
Thank you for the kind words

Exactly Al!
In the meantime, don't forget to report "sensitive receptors" 😵💫😉

Andy, glad you stopped by!, but please be more sensitive to the "sensitive receptors", or they will report you to Gavin 🙄🤣
They got one thing right. Californians deserve a fossil fuel free environment. Hopefully soon. I doubt they’ll like it but you get what you vote for

They will pour out of South Central into Beverly Hills!

Thank you K.T., logic and reason always appreciated!
