Newsflash: The German Public Now Supports and Insists Upon Nuclear Power
Latest survey: 71 % of the German public wants the continued use of nuclear power.
Following the tidal wave and nuclear accident at the Fukushima plant in March 2011, Chancellor Angela Merkel decided that Germany would phase out its use of nuclear power by the end of 2022. Prior, Germany obtained about 1/4 of its electricity from nuclear power.
Note: 15,000 sadly perished due to the tidal wave flood, but only one death was traceable to the Fukishima meltdown years later!

In August 2011, the 13th amendment of the Nuclear Power Act came into effect, which underlined the political will to phase out nuclear power in Germany. As a result, eight nuclear power plants were closed down immediately

“A new survey by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) indicates that 71 percent of the German public supports the continued use of nuclear energy in the country, while 29 percent want it ended. The survey results, which were reported by German news source Bild and elsewhere, come amid ongoing controversy regarding the current plans by the German government to shut down the nation’s three remaining nuclear power plants in mid-April.”

Europe could use some good 'ol hydrocarbons liberated from shale right about now, especially in Germany, where they are restarting coal and nuclear plants, and burning wood pellets from old growth forests in Europe and new growth USA resources to stay warm and power their economy.
